Apple Replacement Cycle to be Completed Summer 2015

Apple Macintosh computers and storage arrays are the appropriate tools for high level digital media content creation.  Primarily at Coronado Middle School and Coronado High School, Apple Macintosh computers are used by students in many CUSD educational programs, including the following:

    • Digital Arts
    • Music
    • Video Production
    • KCMS News
    • KCHS News
    • Graphic Design
    • Yearbook

Current CUSD Apple computer are aging, therefore limiting student programs due to an inability to run current software versions of InDesign, yearbook software, and CS Programs.

CUSD Apple Computers using a Macintosh Operating System are replaced in a Single Enterprise-wide Deployment Replacement Cycle.

Why this replacement strategy works for Apple Macintosh Computer Replacement:

    • Macintosh Operating System (OS) upgrades require large amounts of computer memory in order to perform at appropriate speeds and to avoid crashing machines.
    • Macintosh OS upgrades vary greatly from former versions.
    • To use current versions of software programs often require an OS upgrade.

The CUSD Apple Computers and storage environment replacement cycle is now 13 months behind schedule. The refresh of the environment is expected to be completed during the summer of 2015.
