Congratulations to Coronado Unified School District’s Classified Employees of 2016. Coronado Unified School District is celebrating these employees for their outstanding service and significant contributions to our students and their learning. Here are brief glimpses into the wonderful work done by our Classified Employees of the year:
Michelle Nickerson is Village Elementary’s Classified Employee of the Year. Michelle is a forward thinker, and handles difficult tasks and situations with ease and class. She is trustworthy, discrete, and a true public servant to teachers, students, parents, and community members. Michelle is kind inside and out no matter what the day is like.
Eddie Shanholtz was nominated from Coronado Middle School. Eddie is a dedicated, reliable, and conscientious instructional assistant who always puts students first. He is fondly known by his students and many staff as "Coach," as he epitomizes what the best coaches provide for their players. Coach is always one of the first to school, and he’s always ready to take on whatever the day may bring. He leads with a positive attitude, guiding and supporting students in their learning and growth each and every day.
Mike Mathis is Coronado High School’s nominee. Mike is our district’s lead custodian, and the word “custodian” is a perfect term for his role on the campus of CHS, as synonyms for custodian include keeper, guardian, steward, and protector. Mike intrinsically understands how the work he does forwards the mission of, not only our district, but also CHS. He demonstrates his care by carefully and mindfully preparing each classroom and space for the next day’s students and their work.
Kathy Mulvey was nominated from the Technology Department. Kathy has incredible attention for detail and organization and goes above and beyond when performing her job duties. Kathy is self-motivated and committed to giving 100% every day even when this involves tasks not in her job description or when the IT department needs “all hands on deck”.
Tammie Warlick was nominated by Silver Strand Elementary. Tammie’s work is exemplary in every way. She is organized and efficient and holds very high standards for herself in all she does. Tammie is extremely flexible and self-directed and always “goes above and beyond” in whatever she does. Tammie puts the T in Team: she is the first person to jump in and help with anything and everything; she never says ‘no’ to a request for help. Tammie is the perfect representation of ‘leading by example” and is such a positive role model for our students. It is no wonder that a committee of classified employees selected her as Coronado Unified School District’s Classified Employee of the Year!
Our district thanks these fabulous Classified Employees of the Year. Their efforts and work ensure that our students’ learning environments are safe, well-organized, technologically up to date, clean, and welcoming.
