Superintendent to Deliver Unusual State of the District Address
Posted by: Jennifer Landry 4 years ago
Thursday, January 23rd at 4:30 PM, the Superintendent will give his annual State of the District address. Because of the loss of revenue caused by the state government's recent change in how they fund public schools, the address will be highlighted with news of the fiscal crisis.
The Superintendent is expected to make a recommendation to the School Board to approve a local ballot measure. If approved by the Board, this ballot measure would be placed on the June 3, 2014, Gubernatorial Primary Election. If the measure does not succeed, all schools in the district will be faced with severe cuts to their award-winning programs.
The January 23rd Board meeting will be telecast live on Time Warner Cable's channel 19, now operated jointly by the City of Coronado and the Coronado Unified School District. The new channel is now known as CiTV for Coronado Islander Television or Islander TV.
The Board will also conduct a special financial workshop to discuss the Superintendent's recommendation on February 6th at 4:30 PM. The meeting will be held at the District Office Board Room at 201 Sixth Street in Coronado. The meeting will be open to the public.Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
