On Thursday, January 23rd at 4:30 PM, the Superintendent gave his annual State of the District Address. Because of the loss of revenue caused by the state government's recent change in how they fund public schools, the address was highlighted with news of the fiscal crisis.
The Superintendent recommendation to the School Board to approve a local ballot measure. If approved by the Board, this ballot measure would be placed on the June 3, 2014, Gubernatorial Primary Election. If the measure does not succeed, all schools in the district will be faced with severe cuts to their award-winning programs.
The January 23rd Board meeting was telecast live on Time Warner Cable's channel 19, now operated jointly by the City of Coronado and the Coronado Unified School District. The new channel is now known as CiTV for Coronado Islander Television or Islander TV. It was also broadcast live through webstreaming on the district website. Click here to view the archived video.
