Who is the CAC?
The CAC is an active group of individuals who care about students in special education , their parents and staff. To achieve our mission we need help and fresh ideas. Are you looking to make a difference in our community? If so, the CAC is for you!
What is the CAC?
The CAC is an advisory body to the Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) to promote effective special education programs and services. Cornado Unified School District belongs to the South County SELPA, along with neighboring districts - South Bay, Sweetwater, San Ysidro, National, Chula Vista, and SDCOE. The CAC is mandated by Ed. Code (EC 56190-56194) and most members must be parents.
What does the CAC do?
The South County SELPA Community Advisory Committee includes directors, program specialists, parents, and staff members, and meets monthly. This body reviews and provides input regarding annual priorities and the triennial development of the Local Plan. The committee assists in the development of workshops, conferences, and other activities, promoting parent awareness and education.
When does the CAC meet?All meetings are held at the South County SELPA (address listed above) at 6:15PM unless otherwise noted.
Who can attend?Everyone! All business meetings are open to the public, everyone is welcome to attend.
