Tell us the highlights of your performance history.
Some of the highlights of my performance history include a one man show entitled “Fully Committed” (SD Critics Circle Award, KPBS Patte Award) where I played 40 characters. I played the character “Miss Deep South” three times: once at North Coast Rep and twice for Cygnet in a show called “Pageant” (KPBS Patte Award). I am a resident artist for Cygnet Theater, North Coast Rep, and Diversionary Theater and I started performing in San Diego when I was 15 years old with the San Diego Comic Opera.
Why did you want to be involved in this production?
I didn’t know anything about this production, but when I read the character breakdown I thought I might be able to figure out how to create two distinct characters to meet the needs of the production based on my experience playing multiple roles.
What’s the biggest challenge about taking on these 2 roles?
The biggest challenge for me in this show is not playing two characters, it is trying to learn the dance that is required for the performance. This cast is full of amazing dancers and I have only taken one dance class in my life.
What will the audience be thinking about in the car as they drive home after this show?
As they drive home, I imagine the audience will be thinking about how talented these people are and how beautiful the music is - that’s what I think at every rehearsal!
If you could pick any role to play what would it be and why?
My dream role is the Witch in “Into The Woods”. I’d just love to play that part... Understanding that would be a stretch, and it would be taking a female role away from a woman - I’d also really like to play Sweeney Todd.Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
